Planning: Reflection on Progress Blog
REFLECTION ON PROGRESS:
The three little 'targets' I set myself to work on were:
- To have better time management.
- To expand my use of ICT
- To not be too detailed with my posts.
I can assure you now that not all three targets have been reached... It being a work in progress. The main issue of this is because I tend to forget about blogging, even though this needs to be a constant reminder that this is associated with the final media product. This of course does cause me to fall behind BUT I have no issues coming back fighting! =)
I have been able to complete the second target, with a use of Camtasia for a little behind the scene clip that will be out very soon! The software has given me the opportunity to get to grasp with the basics skills of editing a clip again as well as preparing me when it comes to editing the real thing.
I've been informed that the quality of my posts do vary every now and then and I need to accept that detailed is actually good! As long as I don't go off topic then I can write as much as I want! (YAAY)
Improvements with my time management: I've written out that days of the week on when I need to blog (every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays). This will be easier for me to structure things out more easily and will possibly make future blog posts easier to manage.
My two new targets:
- Not be afraid to say I'm struggling: it being with the editing, getting blog posts up etc. I need to remember that this is a group effort and I'm not on my own.
- Learn to balance: I need to learn when certain areas should be a priority. For example, my main focus should be on editing, not digipaks and posters.
New Blog Design

As you know, the blog is an element to portray our artist to our audience. I wanted to personalise the blog by adding an eye catching background that connects with our synergy therefore went on the hunt for a bright red colourful background that I found on Google.
I searched for 'cool colourful background' on Google and after scrolling all the way down I found the perfect background image... you know what they say, best to last ;)
Along the way down, I saw other images that I thought that might look nice but didn't as it went to small squares like the example below:
Comparison between the old & new blog design
As you can see the old blog design had no connection with our artist, it was just a black and white patterned background which gave a dull feeling towards the blog which is the opposite of our artist. Kayla'O is an energetic, colourful, bubbly person which I believe the new blog design showcases. You may be thinking, how does this background image have connection with Kayla'O? Let me tell you, when I found this image is was perfect as it consisted the colours of our colour palette for our digipak; white, blue (coming off the white), red, black. Also the flash light effect has an connection with one of our locations King Cross which also gives off the same lights (as seen below). I added a description, one that is short and simple but still explains what our blog is about. I adjusted the width of the blog to 1300px to fit the Emaze presentations, change the date to a light grey italic Courier font size 14, blog title to Philosopher font size 47 and post title to red (similar to artist lipstick) Georgia font size 22.
Blogger for iPhone Devices
Blogger for iPhone Devices
I feel like it's necessary to blog about, downloading the app Blogger on iPhone (and Android devices I think). Here is a step by step guide.
- Open up the app store and type 'Blogger' in the search bar. Click on the first search result, it should look something like this.
2. Once you press search, this will come up. The app is Free so it's safe to download for those who don't like spending money on apps. Or you can click on the app and see the screenshots of what it looks like.
3. Sign in with your google ID (if you don't have one, don't worry it takes a minute to create an account or use your A2 Media login so you can update your blogs).
There are two buttons, sign in or sign up, it's up to you which once you choose.
4. Once you log in you can click on the following options: Post, New Post, View Blog or Settings.
The screenshots are examples of posts which we've done in the past.

Overall, I think students who don't have access to a laptop, can easily download the app and update their blog. Most kids in our generation own an iPhone or any sort of Android device so it's not that big of a deal to download the Free app, and do some blogging at home or on the go.
Instagram Page & Update

The reason we have such a big gap in blogging is because, whilst we were out shooting we uploaded everything on our Instagram and keeping everything in place.
Our Instagram is @A2Set2Group8 but we are going to change the username in the next few days to Kayla'OOfficial because, that's how we want our artist to be branded. Also, we will be posting our posters and creating promotional packages and trying to get our 'artist' out there.
For the future we will make sure to blog about the days which we've been shooting.
